TEXAS FORESTRY ASSOCIATION HOSTS 2019 OUTSTANDING TREE FARM OF THE YEAR FIELD TOUR

LUFKIN, TX – The Texas Forestry Association will host a tour to highlight the selection of Harold and Mary Jane Denson’s 341-acre tree farm, in Smith County as the 2019 Texas Outstanding Tree Farm of the Year on Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The Densons manage their Tree Farm, located near Arp, Texas, for timber income, wildlife habitat and hunting, recreation and aesthetic value.

The tour will begin with a history of this generational tree farm which has been in the family for 151 years. The tour will also include information regarding open land planting, reforestation, soils stability, improvement thinning and more. The importance of fire lane maintenance and erosion control will also be discussed, and the Densons, as well as professional foresters, will be on hand to answer any questions landowners might present.

Participants are asked to wear outside attire and comfortable shoes/boots for walking to the stations. The event is free and lunch will be provided. Space is limited to 150 participants and registration is required to reserve your spot.
