Lufkin TX – Atkinson Candy Company does not purchase any peanuts or nut butter products from Sunland, Inc, the source of multiple recalls in the food industries.

“At Atkinson Candy Company, we dry roast all of our peanuts and make our own peanut butter,” according to Nancy Ballenger, Quality Assurance Manager at Atkinson Candy.  “Our peanut roaster was validated by Diebel Labs, Inc. The roaster for Atkinson Candy Company is validated for a six log reduction in potential Salmonella under the parameters employed for the test. The data overwhelmingly supports this conclusion.”

Ballenger continues, “Atkinson Candy Company even goes one step further by pulling random weekly samples of finished products containing our peanut butter and sending to a third party accredited laboratory to have it tested for APC, Coliforms, E-Coli, Salmonella, and Yeast and Mold.  At Atkinson Candy Company, we take food safety very seriously.
