LegacyTV and R-Squared Productions salute veterans with Memorial Day Specials

May 11, 2011 by admin-msgnewsroom

Clearwater, FL, May 11, 2011—To honor veterans and servicemen/women world-wide, the Legacy Television Network and R-Squared Productions will present two feature-length films on Memorial Day, May 30th, beginning at 7PM (ET).

Flag of My Father, R-Squared Productions’ first feature film is scheduled for its broadcast premiere on Memorial Day, 2011. It will air at 9PM (ET) on the network which reaches a potential 37M homes across America. The film stars John Schneider (Dukes of Hazzard, Smallville, The Secret Life of the American Teenager) and William Devane (Knot’s Landing, Space Cowboys, 24).

“Flag” is a powerful story centering on how jealousy disrupts an already fragile relationship between an Army nurse, CPT Judith Rainier (Erneta), and her four half brothers, a relationship that nearly severs when their Vietnam veteran father suddenly dies. Devane portrays the family’s patriarch while Schneider is the nurse’s antagonistic, civilian brother.

The heroine Judith uses her unwavering faith to heal strife within the family. She also battles severe post traumatic stress initiated by a P.O.W. experience. The nurse fights for her life and the salvation of a fellow American soldier while in captivity.

Christian actors and actual veterans were cast in several principal and extra roles, including the lead actress who portrayed Judith. “The casting helped enhance the film because the actors’ performances came from a genuine place,” said director Rodney Ray.

Some called them Baby Killers…We call them HEROES will air at 7PM (ET) on Legacy TV. Contrary to the hero’s welcome received by other veterans, the majority of men returning from Vietnam were barely given a handshake of appreciation…much less parades and accolades. Training did not prepare them to gracefully blend back into civilian life afterward, especially if some cruelly perceive you to be a ‘baby killer’. This documentary takes a closer look at these unheralded heroes and their family life. Fortunately, Americans now understand that any animosity against government policy can be solved through the democratic process and not by antagonizing the armed forces. Director Rodney Ray said, “Vietnam veterans paid a huge price for this country and for future servicemen. Their sacrifice ensures that no modern day veteran will endure persecution by their own countrymen ever again.”
